MALABON City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led late last week other local officials in honoring 51 donors and partners, who supported the city’s disaster risk response efforts during the series of destructive tropical cyclones and enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat” last July.
At the ceremony held last Friday, Sept. 5, at the City Hall, which was part of the mayor’s “Report to the City People 2025,” the local government also recognized the 12 “panciterias” (noodle houses) that contributed to the city’s Guinness World Record achievement for the “Longest Line of Bowls of Noodles” featuring the iconic Pancit Malabon last March.
During the same event, City Administrator Alexander Rosete said that the Sandoval administration highlighted its accomplishments and plans for different sectors in Malabon.

Among the donors and partners who provided medicines, medical equipment and assets, relief goods, volunteer work, and other services were national government offices and departments, individuals, companies, and nongovernment organizations.

“On behalf of the other City Hall officials and employees and my constituents, I am deeply grateful to these donors and volunteers who were instrumental in ensuring smooth and efficient disaster response operations that allowed us to reach thousands of affected families quickly and effectively,” Sandoval said.
Rosete said the city government also presented certificates of recognition to the 12 panciterias that helped prepare and cook the Pancit Malabon dishes leading to the city’s world record achievement.

On March 21, local government personnel and volunteer students arranged 6,549 bowls of Pancit Malabon cooked by the 12 panciterias and bagged the Guinness World Record for the Longest Line of Bowls of Noodles.
Sandoval and Rosete vowed to strengthen partnerships and expand programs that highlight the “bayanihan” (community cooperation) spirit of Malabueños — whether in disaster response, cultural promotion, or community development.
